Lena Farmers Market to Extend Season
The vendors at the Lena Farmers Market plan to extend the market one additional weekend in order to bring wonderful fall produce to its customers. The Lena Farmers Market will have its last day of the 2009 season on Saturday, October 17 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the downtown Lena parking lot. Cooking Demonstration at the Lena Farmers Market
A cooking demonstration will be offered at the Lena Farmers Market on Saturday, August 22. The demonstration will begin when the market opens at 8 a.m. Barb Curry, Food and Nutrition Program Coordinator, University of Illinois Extension-Stephenson County will be presenting the cooking demonstration featuring fresh seasonal produce and will have samples for tasting along with recipes. The Lena Farmers Market is held on Saturdays in the downtown Lena parking lot from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Steve Lorig to perform at the Lena Farmers Market on July 4
Join us for a Saturday morning of local food and local entertainment at the Lena Farmers Market. Local musician, Steve Lorig, will be performing on Saturday, July 4 from 8 a.m. to 11a.m. at the market. Steve is a singer/songwriter who plays a variety of music from his own original music to older folk music, blues and country.
The Lena Farmers Market is open every Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the downtown Lena parking lot. We are in our second year and excited to have ten farmers with a variety of offerings. In addition to some wonderful seasonal produce the offerings include a mouth watering host of baked goods, hand processed wool for hand spinners and felters, plants, jellies, handmade soaps, fresh herbs, fresh cut flowers, and more. Food Preservation Display offered at the Lena Farmers Market
Join us at the Lena Farmers Market on Saturday, June 13, for a food preservation display. Sarah Todd a Nutrition and Wellness Educator from the University of Illinois Extension will be on hand at the Farmers Market with a display of materials that are available for canning, freezing, making jams, jellies, and pickles along with some new products that are available for food preservation. Bring your pressure canner gauge to the Farmers Market to have it tested. Sarah will be available to explain the different food preservation techniques and answer any questions you might have about preserving garden produce.
The Lena Farmers Market takes place every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the downtown Lena Parking lot. The market features locally grown produce, locally made baked goods, organic butter, locally raised beef, locally raised wool products, homemade cards and much more.

Fresh Rhubarb! Just Picked Lettuce! Homemade Treats! The Downtown Lena Farmers Market will kick off the growing season on Saturday, May 30. Open from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., the Market will be held in the Downtown Lena Parking Lot featuring 8 different farmers with a variety of offerings. The Downtown Lena Farmers Market will feature locally grown produce, locally made food, organic butter made from local organic milk, locally raised beef, handmade soap, wool products, and locally grown plants. Some early season crops will be lettuce, rhubarb, spinach, radishes and more. The Market will run every Saturday through October 10.
