 CRUISE NIGHT 2009

Freeport, Illinois...Cruise Night 2009 is just around the corner and the excitement is building for this huge annual event in downtown Freeport, Illinois which will be held on Saturday, August 1. Parking in the display lots is expected to fill up fast again this year, but there is a way to avoid the rush and assure a place to park your pride and joy after cruising a few laps.

Car owners can reserve a spot in either the west lot (across from the Stewart Centre) on Douglas Street or in the east lot (across from Sanitary Cleaners) on Exchange Street. The cost is $10 to reserve a space in advance and car owners can do that either by contacting the Freeport/Stephenson County Visitors Bureau at 815-233-1357 or online at www.freeportcruisenight.com. The cost to reserve a spot the night of the event is $5.

Once again Cruise Night is expected to be the biggest event in downtown Freeport during the year with more than 500 cars and over 5,000 people. There will be plenty of food, kids’ activities, music by Newport Project, muffler rapping contest and a burnout contest.

The stars of the event always are the cars, however, and a wide range of them are expected to be coming to Cruise Night. It’s free to come down and watch vehicles ranging from antiques to hot rods as they cruise through downtown Freeport.

Cruise Night is a family-friendly event that is sure to have something to entertain all ages. Parking lots open at 4 p.m. and cruising is from 7-10 p.m. The Muffler Rapping Contest is from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and Dan’s Route 66 Burnout Contest is from 7:30-9 p.m. The official sponsor of Cruise Night is J.H. Barkau & Sons.

For more information about Cruise Night, contact the Freeport/Stephenson County Convention and Visitors Bureau at 815-233-1357
