Start the Holiday Season with a Snowball Slam!

FREEPORT, Ill., Nov. 2, 2009 — FHN is adding a boys’ 3-on-3 basketball tournament to this year’s Festival of Trees fun – are you ready to start the holidays with a Snowball Slam?

Area boys in grades 6, 7 and 8 are invited to play in the FHN 3-on-3 Snowball Slam Saturday, Nov. 21 at King Community Campus, 511 S. Liberty, Freeport. Registration for each team (4 boys) is $60, due Nov. 14, and includes a T-shirt for each player and trophies for the champions of each age division.

“We’re excited to add the Snowball Slam to our Festival of Trees events this year, because this kind of event serves two great purposes,” said FHN President and CEO Michael Perry, MD. “Being involved in basketball, or sports in general, is important to people of all ages to get the exercise our bodies need. And fun events like the Snowball Slam give families a chance to get together for some fun and to cheer each other on.”

When they’re not watching the games, players and spectators can head to FHN’s on-site health fair to get their blood pressure checked, learn about healthy eating and more. All health fair activities are free and open to the public.

For more information about the Snowball Slam, call 815-232-2121 ext. 221. More information, along with a downloadable brochure and registration form, is also available online at www.fhn.org.
