Luminary Walk at Oakdale Nature Preserve
Bundle up your family for this annual winter event. Oakdale Nature Preserve’s Luminary Walk is this Saturday, December 5, 6:00-9:30 pm. The guided hike through the forest’s trails lit with hundreds of luminaries takes about 40 minutes.  The guide will lead you to costumed actors along the trail that will be sharing stories from the past. As you wait for your Guide in the warm lodge, enjoy sweet treats, warm drinks and live music with award-winning songwriter and guitarist, Chris Vallillo. Admission per person is $6 or $4 for ages 4-11.
Children, ages 5-12 can shop The Giving Place, A Children’s Holiday Store to purchase items for their loved ones. Nominal prices range from $.50 to $5.00. Volunteer elves will help children as this is a store just for kids! Parents can do some Holiday Shopping in the Trailside Shop offering nature-related items.

Award-winning singer-songwriter and guitarist, Chris Vallillo, will also be performing the Freeport Public Library. He moves his audience with his music that portrays the joys and sorrows of Midwestern life. His performances include original and traditional music on six string and bottleneck slide guitars, harmonica and pocket instruments. All ages will enjoy his personal style. His performance will take place before Luminary Walk on December 5 from 10:00-11:00 AM. This program is brought to you by the Freeport Public Library and is free. Breakfast with the Grinch
Have you ever been to Whoville? Would you like to have breakfast with the Grinch? Start your holiday off with a bang! Gather all your friends and have breakfast with the Grinch. You will be feasting on green eggs and ham, a doughnut and milk. You can have your picture taken with the Grinch and bring home a goodie bag.
This event is being held at the 4-Seasons Banquet Facility. Saturday, December 12 from 9:00 – 10:15 AM. Advance registration is required. R/NR $10/11. Deadline to register is December 4. This event is for children 3 – 9 years and their parent or guardian.
